  1. Love Blindness

From the recording Oldest Roadies on the Earth

Brian Ralston and Mel Barnett have co-written a number of songs including "Dark Eyes" from the Tortology CD. Mel came up with the lyrics for this song about the deterioration of a relationship and asked Brian to come up with the music. It had been hoped that the song might be pitched to Joe Cocker, but sadly Joe passed away before the release of the EP.

Lyrics

Love Blindness

I can read disappointment like a book,
I only have to take one look
It's written all over you like a page, With lines that fade and disengage
There's a harshness in your voice,
Like I only stay because I have no choice

You used to care about how I felt, When you looked in my eyes and saw yourself
Soothed me with your words of kindness
It was utter love, Love Blindness

The flick of your hand and a throwaway look,
Everything I say misunderstood
No matter how hard I try for you,
My voice and what I say and do
How could I let it get to this,
To feel so worthless from the chill of your kiss

You used to care about how I felt,
When you looked in my eyes and saw yourself
Soothed me with your words of kindness
It was utter love, Love Blindness

So go on, break this link that keeps us chained,
I’m sorry love came cheap to you
I can't be trapped and in this pain,
But I see you now for what you are
In everything you do
