From the recording Tortology

This song was initially inspired by the "cyclos" of Ho Chi Minh City who used to congregate at the entrance to our hotel during our visit to Vietnam in 2009. Each morning as we left our hotel we would be bombarded with cries of "One hour - $10". The basic melody and the first few lines of the chorus came to my head early during our stay, but I could not work out what to do with the verse. On the last night of our stay, I ducked out of our hotel to grab a few take away beers, and while I was waiting for a break in traffic to enable me to cross the road, a female motor cyclist pulled up directly in front of me and uttered the words "One hour - $20". It was clear that the motorcyclist was offering a different type of ride to that offered by the cyclos, and the concept of the song - "temptation" materialised immediately.

Lyrics

One Hour With You
(Brian Ralston)

One hour with you, one hour with you
I’m not sure what to do
Seems too good to be true
I’m tempted to wrap my arms around you
Praise the Lord that I’ve finally found you
Mon dieu, one hour with you

We could squeeze in close
Hold each other and snuggle up real tight
Head for unknown places on our transport of delight
Break away from the crowds, find a place
To let our spirits free
Sixty minutes, you and me

One hour with you, one hour with you
I’m not sure what to do
Seems too good to be true
I’m tempted to wrap my arms around you
Praise the Lord that I’ve finally found you
Mon dieu, one hour with you

It could be our little secret
No one else need know
Wrapped away together in our own sweet cameo
Mum’s the word as we head off to the stillness of the night
Three thousand six hundred seconds
We can make the world seem right

One hour with you, one hour with you
I’m not sure what to do
Seems too good to be true
I’m tempted to wrap my arms around you
Praise the Lord that I’ve finally found you
Mon dieu, one hour with you

But I’m sure that I can see some danger signs ahead
My eyes are filled with flashing lights
And each one of them’s red
Should I walk away, or just let myself go
I don’t know, I don’t know

One hour with you, one hour with you
I’m not sure what to do
Seems too good to be true
I’m tempted to wrap my arms around you
Praise the Lord that I’ve finally found you
Mon dieu, one hour with you
Mon dieu, one hour with you
Mon dieu, one hour with you
